Foundation of Community Engagement

The Process

The Foundation of Community Engagement want to celebrate the wonderful work that schools
provide for our communities, and also to recognise the incredible work that is currently being
delivered in so many of our schools.

We want to ensure that schools are networking and
sharing the excellence that is in evidence in Wales. Schools are at very different stages in their
development and at the Foundation we want to support you to become a Heart of the
Community/Calon y Gymuned School.

So how do you become involved with the Foundation and begin your journey to excellence.
What can the Foundation do for us, I hear you asking!

The Foundation:

•Values and supports the hugely important role that your school and setting communities can
play in supporting and developing your young people.

•Promotes resilience, social inclusion, and wellbeing through positive engagement.

•Provides a positive structure for schools and other settings to work together, review their
work and plan for future developments

•Encourages a consistent approach to working with the Communities and developing positive
partnerships.

•Enables schools and settings to access a community engagement mentor, a network of
likeminded schools and settings and share good practice to develop your pathway to
community engagement.

Advantages of being part of the Foundation:

•Support from schools and your mentor to plan and develop your Community Engagement
work.

•A half termly newsletter where schools share their good practice and provide examples of
research and any relevant information from Welsh Government or Estyn.

•Opportunities to come together for Virtual Seminars where schools and settings share their
hard work and excellent practice.

•Being part of a Community Engagement network.

•Access to, and support in developing, the Community Engagement Pathway.

•A tool kit for supporting your Community Engagement Work.
